INTRODUCING 'THE BARNEKIN'

Situated in a very beautiful part of the Scottish Borders, close to Kelso, the Barnekin enjoys stunning panoramic views south over open countryside towards the Cheviots.

Closely resembling a traditional croft in its style, The Barnekin combines traditional character with thoroughly modern comforts and a generous dose of peacefulness and privacy, inside and out.  It is located in the pretty hill top hamlet of Lempitlaw, where a single street of about a dozen traditional dwellings meanders, at intervals, for a half a mile or so, amidst endless beautiful unspolit countryside in all directions.

This beautiful part of Scotland is packed with things to do: walk, fish, cycle, horse ride and explore the rich local heritage and landscape. From Lempitlaw, by car, there is equally easy access to both the Borders' hills and the coast, castles and walking country of Northumberland. Eat out and shop in nearby Kelso or travel just over an hour to spend a day in cosmopolitan Edinburgh or, in the opposite direction, lively Newcastle. The market towns of Jedburgh, Melrose, Wooler, Berwick, Alnwick and Rothbury are all closer still.

The best place to find out all about what you can enjoy during your time in Lempitlaw is at either www.visitscottishborders.com (VisitScotland's own comprehensive guide to the region) or, as the Barnekin is only two miles into Scotland from Northumberland, at www.visitnorthumberland.com. You will soon appreciate that you cannot possibly do all that you might want to do in one visit to the Barnekin!

But if you what you want most of all is to truly get away from the crowds, then this is the spot!
